Our Construction Zone

I just have to show you all this sprinkler head used in our park. They used a small soda bottle, taped with electrical tape a pipe in the end that would fit into the hose end. Push it into the hose, turn it on and you are in business. Pretty great for the Latins to think of that.
Now, for our construction zone. When we moved into this apt. it had a large empty basketball court and loads of cement. Not wonderful to look at, but not too bad as neighbors go. But, that land was sold and they are now building a new super market there. It is supposed to be a very high end market and won't attract a lot of people, but. Anyway, the first thing we noticed was that they were clearing all the junk piles away. Then they started unloading all kinds of equipment for building. We thought the school was adding another building or something. It gave us something to watch and I was interested to note how many modern pieces of equipment they had. At a lot of construction sights we have seen men with picks and shovels digging footings etc. Anyway, they had real equipment. Then the plastic went up around the fence so we couldn't see what they were doing. Then they added the green stuff on the top. Now, we can't see a thing. Just hear the LOUD noises. First it was a jack hammer on a backloader type machine that pounded for two days. It was so very loud and we would finally close the windows and it was still loud. Then they started hauling off all that cement. The back loaders and hugh trucks sound like they are in our house. So, that has been going on for three days now. They start right at 8:00 with a few clanking sounds that we think is them hitting their machines to get them to go. They hit everything here to make it work. They work until 5:00 with a short break for lunch. Hopefully the next stage is a little quieter and less dusty. We have a house full of fine dust and dirt from that lot. The wind comes from the west and it is on the west of us. So, we have to decide if we want air and dust or no dust and no air. Such is life. We assume the construction will go on for at least a year. So, we will not get to see the fruits of their labors. One thing though. They have all cement walls and floors, so not as much pounding of nails etc. Maybe.
So, that is our world for the rest of our mission. We are working afternoons this next week too, so will enjoy the sounds of construction all week.
P.S. We actually saw a few raindrops again this morning. That is the first since moving over to this apt. It doesn't last long and you can count the drops, but they call it rain. Such fun.
