MY WHITE DRESS

Today in our SS class we were talking about the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood and one of the blessings is that our bodies will be renewed. We were talking about experiences where we had been renewed and I realized I had had one just yesterday.

We had gone to the MTC for lunch to celebrate the 4th of July and then back to the temple for our eight hour shift. I was really tired. Didn't think I could stay awake, let alone function well. So, I went into the temple and got into my white clothes. As I sat waiting for preperation meeting I realized I was not tired any longer. I went thru the shift and did everything I was supposed to do. I felt fine and at the end even had the energy to walk home.

That was truely a renewing of my body. I know that it was also the fulfillment of part of my setting apart for my mission and to be a temple worker. I am thankful that I was alert enought to realize what was happening to me. I am so blessed.

Tomorrow we go to get the phone etc signed up in our name for our new apartment. We feel like it going to be Christmas for us. We know, already, there are a lot of things we will leave here when we leave and it is going to be fun to see what the Elders leave.

We had a couple over for dinner tonight and it was so fun. Our dinner didn't seem quite done when it was time to eat, so I decided to finish it off on the top of the stove and we are out of gas. The oven was not hot enough because we were so low on gas. Now it is all gone. We hate to have to fill the tank and leave it in a week, but I guess we will. What a funny feeling knowing I can't cook on the stove. Our company said, well you will just have to eat out. That would cost a lot more than filling the gas tank, I am sure. I looks like about a 15-20 gal tank. We will see.

So, it is cold cereal for breakfast tomorrow. We were introduced to a new fruit today. It was heart shaped, green, the color of an avacado (I thought it was an avacado) it has white meat and large seeds that you eat everything but. I will have to buy one and take a picture for you. I think is is called chiremoier. I really don't know. Anyway, it is very sweet and rich tasting. Sort of citrusish, but with the texture of a squash. Well, it was fun to be introduced to a new one.

We had a good week and learned more and more. It is a great way to spend our days. I sure wish everyone could have this experience. Steve and I are really growing closer and enjoying being together. When I think he is basically the only person I can talk to, it is rather strange.

Tomorrow night we are having a Peruvian Fiesta for the couples who are going home this month. There are actually three couples leaving. So, we are going to watch a video of some famous dance group here, and have typical peru food. We are having empenadas, rice con lalache, (It is rice with milk, cinnamon and raisins) some other dessert thing, and a purple drink that is supposed to be great made from purple corn. Sounds interesting to me.
